Funeral Home Witters & Baers is a family-owned business founded in 1987. They have branches in Heusden, Zolder and Houthalen. Like other funeral homes, they too have experienced the shifting of funeral services from churches to auditoria. As such, the demand for services in their own auditoria has kept on growing.

Liviau for audiovisual control

Before switching to the Liviau system from APEX, Witters & Baers used an expensive Crestron installation to control the audio in their funeral homes. The old installation was not very reliable and did not provide the funeral home owners with a truly efficient solution for their “content”. They still had to use a laptop with PowerPoint to provide photos and videos for their services. Evy Baers explains “Since Liviau, the pre-service AV workload has almost decreased by 50%. Before we had to put photos or videos into PowerPoint and match the slide-show with specific song requests. Of course, this is a pretty time-consuming job. The moviemaker software that comes with Liviau allows us to generate beautiful videos that are matched automatically with the right music.”

An additional advantage of working directly with photos & videos instead of PowerPoint is being able to create much more appealing and personalized content. Through Liviau’s built-in scenario builder it becomes very easy to create a scenario of the upcoming funeral service. Camera system

In addition to the Liviau system, Apex installed an advanced camera system. This allows a service to be streamed seamlessly in HD video quality. The system serves three essential functions. Firstly, it allows users to display an ongoing service in a secondary room. Ideal for smaller funeral homes that want to accommodate larger crowds. Secondly, the camera system makes it possible to setup a live broadcast to people that could not attend the service (e.g. via YouTube). Lastly, families can now request that the funeral service is recorded for later viewing. The camera system was installed in a discrete fashion without compromising the peaceful atmosphere of the auditorium.
